Under the slimmest of time constraints, with a skeletal US armed force contingent, and under the most chaotic of circumstances, all thanks to Trump’s surrender deal with the Taliban the previous year, Joe Biden still managed to get 120,000 Afghans airlifted out of Afghanistan before the Taliban finally took over.
All of these Afghans, at least 99.9% of whom are Muslim, would have been left behind had Trump had his way. Trump’s complete capitulation to the Taliban only guaranteed safe evacuation for US citizens. Not even the Afghan spouses and children of US citizens residing in Afghanistan would have had made it out, had Trump been president.
This mass evacuation came at a great price: thirteen US servicemen were killed by a terrorist bomb attack while helping Afghans get through a check-point.
The next time you hear some brainless idiot spout off about “Genocide Joe”, or how they’re not going to vote for him, remind them that it was President Biden who kept the promise to our Afghanistan allies to prevent a genocide.
