I recently saw a study that said that when people actually use their policies their attitude toward the ACA becomes more favorable.  This has certainly been the case for me.

Things did get rocky for a while though.  At one point, I came close to publishing a diary stating that we had been paying premiums for nothing as it appeared that no doctor would accept my plan.

"The Front of the Arm"

by Istillhope

CBS just paraded out two "experts" who claimed that the autopsy results show that Michael Brown could not have been shot while he was fleeing, because all the bullets hit him in the "front."

I beg to differ.

There are many anti-choice stories about women who had an abortion, not knowing they were carrying more than one embryo, but the twin survived.  Based on the little I know about how abortions work, I am puzzled.

I am still muddling through the maze that it is  Like many others, I had to call in and get assistance over the phone to complete an application.  There was something new about this particular process that is worth remarking upon.

My brother is extremely conservative.  An Orthodox Jew, he  believes in personal responsibility. While he is very charitable, I would not describe him as terribly empathetic, especially when it comes to people with whom he cannot identify,

But when the economy crashed he lost his high paying job and has only gotten work as an independent contractor since.  And he got Cancer.  Fortunately he had kept paying into COBRA so he  got the treatment he needed, and while he has other health problems, the cancer is gone.  But now his insurance payments and deductibles are so high he has been worried about losing his house.

So how could he be against the ACA?

I just finished yet another long Facebook battle with someone who thinks Obama is a race-baiter, Trayvon was a thug who deserved what he got, there should never have even been a trial, and the whole thing was never about race.  The latest theologian even claimed that  the specific drink Trayvon  purchased, "together with Skittles are 2 of 3 ingredients of "Lean" (AKA Sizzurp) a recreational drug popular in the hip-hop community that can also lead to feelings of agitation and paranoia."  Seriously.  I had not heard that one before.

A couple of years ago I had an appointment at my urologist's office.  A specialist who traveled between doctor's offices was there to test my urological functions.  When she came out to the waiting room to call my name, and I walked toward her, she reacted with bewilderment, looked around to see if there was anyone else with me and exclaimed  "you are perfect!"

New Conspiracy Theory

If the wackadoos decide to turn against the Republican members of Congress, they would have some great stuff to work with.

There is a  petty little "joke" going around Facebook about taking away the Halloween candy from Democratic children and "redistributing it to the lazy kids who did not even bother to go trick or treating."

Of course this "joke" just tells us a lot about the person telling it.

Bill O'Reilly suggested that non-whites turned to Obama, because they "wanted stuff."  He seriously could not think of any other reason that the Hispanic community could have turned away from the Republican party in such incredible numbers.

Blind dissident Chen Guangcheng and his immediate family have left China on a flight to the United States. They are expected to arrive in Newark, N.J., Saturday evening.

This may prove awkward for Mitt Romney who had previously released a statement that the administration's handling of the crisis was "a day of shame for the Obama administration."

On Hardball today, the guests were Tony Perkins and Barney Frank.  While I know I have a leftist slant, I cannot imagine that anyone watching it thought Perkins made a single point that was not decimated by Frank and Matthews.

But what got to me was the absolute heartlessness of Perkins' positions.
