Recent conversation between two of the puppet-masters:
Plutocrat #1: The peons are beginning to pay far too much attention to the economy. More and more of them are speaking out against the TPP. We need a distraction and it needs to be a big one.
Plutocrat #2: I think it's time to throw them a big bone. Let's have our SCOTUS puppets affirm gay marriage rights and Obamacare. After all, we don't really give a shit about who marries whom. That's a bone we've thrown to the religious fundamentalists to get them to continue to vote against their own economic self-interest. Time to take that bone back. And the ACA has made us bundles of cash because our puppet BO adroitly managed to dodge the public option even though his party had both houses of congress and the support of most of the peons.
P1: Agreed. This will distract them long enough for us to ram this deal through our puppets in the US Congress and we know BO will sign it. As usual, it's a win/win for us and the peons will be giddy about two issues that don't really even affect most of them.
Me: Don't get me wrong. I couldn't be happier about these two SCOTUS decisions. However, I can't help but believe that they're a huge smokescreen to distract us from the biggest issue of all. The economy. We need to keep our eyes on the prize because, I guarantee you, the corporate establishment always does. They're relentless.
