I heard a song yesterday.
It was the anthem of the Women’s March. It was written by Milck.
It says what I feel. I am so, so tired of being told that Hillary needs to shut and go away, that women need to shut up and sit down, we’ve had our turn and we lost. So we should just smile, sit in a corner and wait until we are called on.
“No one knows me,
No one ever will
If I don’t say something,
If I just lie still.”
In the media, and on this very site, I keep hearing that Hillary needs to keep quiet, either about Russia, or about the election, or about everything. She is not part of the future of the party, we can learn nothing from her. And her defenders are also told to shut up and stop talking. We lost. Women are not part of the future. We should stop talking about abortion rights, that’s no longer relevant. Identity politics is over, it’s the white man’s turn—as if that’s not identity politics.
Of course, that’s not how it is said. It’s not about all women, it’s about THAT woman. She is the only one who should be silent. All the other women can talk. Until they do.
I haven’t written many diaries (although I have made a lot of comments.). I think that has to change. I think I have to speak up at Daily Kos, about the misogyny, about everything.
“I can’t keep quiet
for anyone
No, not anymore”
