Just when you thought that Congress was an utterly dysfunctional institution that couldn't get anything done, Colorado representative Jared Polis introduces legislation that may be the precursor of a truly productive era of government.

In this visually beautiful and mesmerizing piece, 27 year-old Prince Ea apologies to future generations for what we are doing, and not doing, to the planet today. The six-minute video contains so many great thought-provoking quotes, it's bound to be shared for many years. So far, in less than 48 hours, his video has garnered over 35 million views on Facebook.

Here are some excerpts:

"Dear Future Generations, I think I speak for the rest of us when I say, 'Sorry.' Sorry that we left you with a mess of a planet. Sorry that we were so caught up in our own doings - to do something."

"Let me tell you, trees are amazing. We literally breathe the air they are creating They clean up our pollution, our carbon, store and purify our water, give us medicine that cures our disease, food that feeds us…"

"I'm sorry that we put profits above people, greed above need, the rule of gold above the Golden Rule. I'm sorry we used nature as a credit card with no spending limit…"

The majority of the video focuses on what we as a people are doing to hurt the environment and what we as a people can do differently. Interestingly, Prince Ea chooses to zero in on the 'environmentally-challenged' Fox News and Sarah Palin, and he basically shames them.
"Hey Fox News, If you don't think climate change is a threat, I dare you to interview the thousands of homeless people in Bangladesh. See while you were in your penthouse nestled, their homes were literally washed away beneath their feet due to the rising sea levels."

"And Sarah Palin. You said you loved the smell of fossil fuels. Well, I urge you to talk to the kids of Beijing who are forced to wear pollution masks just to go to school."

He goes on for a minute or two more apologizing to the future, stops the music, and then makes a incredibly proactive quote.
"Cut the beat."

"I'm not sorry. This future, I do not accept it. Because an error does not become a mistake, until you refuse to correct it."

Here is the video: Dear Future Generations

In October of 2010, Fox News launched the Fox News Latino website in order to mitigate the massive disadvantage Republicans faced with Latino voters. Latinos are the fastest growing demographic in the nation and their voting power is increasing with each election. So even though the Republican Party has been alienating this constituency with blatantly detrimental policies, Fox News was determined to try to save the GOP from its own prejudices.

Anyone who thought that Hillary Clinton's road to the White House was going to be littered with trash from the GOP's Benghazi obsession or frenzied raving about ghost emails may be disappointed to learn that there appears to be a new scandalette brewing on the right flank. The campaign by Republicans and conservative media to denigrate Clinton seems to be coalescing around a single bit of pre-fab fluff that reveals the flimsy foundation of their strategy.

Rush Limbaugh, eating a cigar
Last week, I covered a story about the Conservative Radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, being dropped from the Indianapolis radio station, WIBC, after 22 years. WIBC parent Emmis Communications notified Los Angeles-based syndicator Premiere Networks that it would not extend its deal with Rush Limbaug. Many other news/opinion sites covered the story, including IBJ (Indianapolis Business Journal). Most of the stories basically said the move was simply a longterm change in direction.

Here's where the IBJ piece was a little different. Emmis' local market manager, Charlie Morgan, alluded the mega company's decision to drop Limbaugh was much more than a simple change - and they have been contemplating this move for 18 months.

While Morgan expects some WIBC listeners to be “hugely disappointed” by the change, he said losing Limbaugh could open up the station to more advertising opportunities."There are some, primarily, national advertisers that refuse to air commercials during Limbaugh’s show," Morgan explained. Emmis officials began notifying its advertisers of the change Monday.
And there it is, once again - bonafide proof the boycott against Rush Limbaugh and his sponsors is not only working, it's remarkably effective. It's changing the face of talk radio altogether. Right now the biggest problem with radio - is Republican hate monger, Rush Limbaugh. And the hundreds of thousands of Limbaugh boycotters couldn't be more pleased.

Advertisers can't handle the pressure and loss of customers. Most companies, other than those run by Republican Dittoheads, are avoiding Rush Limbaugh like the plague. This was not the case in 2012. That year, self-proclaimed 'El Rushbo' enjoyed sitting on the king's throne of Conservative 'hate radio' with a plethora of large lucrative sponsors. That all changed after he called an unknown college student a 'slut' and 'prostitute' while she advocated for insurance-paid birth control at a congressional hearing. Once Limbaugh's rant hit social media and went viral, huge sponsors like Ford, GM, McDonald's, Subway, Carbonite…began to pull their ads immediately after seeing the public's outrage. Yes, the good old days are long gone for Limbaugh, though his camp begs to differ and continues to make lame attempts to derail the boycott Limbaugh used to joke about. Also, his PR team is now blitzing search engines like Google with 10 or more RushLimbaugh.com stories per day - from the same show. Guess they need those page views to generate revenue because it sure isn't coming from sponsors.

Kudos, once again, to the many individuals, groups/organizations and websites involved in this successful movement. They are not mentioned enough. It's been a slow, agonizing fall for Rush Limbaugh, and it's given the protestors some pretty glorious victories and affirmations along the way. There will be more celebrations to come. Some organizations like NOW (The National Organization For Women) NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Planned Parenthood have been after Limbaugh for years. The amazing StopRush.net and #StopRush on Twitter have been relentless. Other Limbaugh relentless protestors include:

News Websites/Blogs: Media Matters, Daily Kos, Liberals Unite, UniteWomen.org, Addicting Info, Daily Kos 'Sluts', Occupy Democrats, ReverbPress, The Smoking Gun, Alternet, Unite Blue, UltraViolet, Huffington Post…

Facebook Pages: Boycott Rush Limbaugh's Sponsors To Shut Him Down, Being Liberal, Honoring Richard Myers, Pro-Choice Liberals, Miss R*EVOLutionaries, Chicks on the Left, Living Blue In Texas, Pragmatic Progressives, Everlasting GOP Stoppers, Too Informed To Vote Republican, UniteWomen.org, Worley Dervish, Lady Grey, The Beer Party, Lady Liberals, Red State Dems, Setting Women Free From Outdated Social Standard, God Bless The President Of The United States, The Ale Party, 1 Million Sluts Against Rush Limbaugh, Political Loudmouth…

Facebook 'Groups': FlushRush, Join The Fight To Flush Rush, Fight Laws Against Women, Pro-Choice Democrats, End Citizens United, ERA Action, and Stop Republican Laws Against Women…

Well Known Individuals/Celebrities:Gloria Steinem, Jon Stewart, Lewis Black, Rachel Maddow, Al Franken, Stephen Colbert, Peter Gabriel, Spike Lee, Andy Borowitz, Crystal Ball, the late, great George Carlin, Ed Shultz, Sandra Fluke, Ice-T, Jane Fonda, Gloria Allred…

Individuals Equally Important: the late Daily Kos diarist Richard Myers, Wojtek Wacowski, Rick Unger, Cenk Uygur, Angelo Carusone, Karen Teegarden, Jen Senko, Matthew Desmond, Samuel Wynn Warde, Steve Marmel, Kimberley Johnson, Laurel Davis, Freya Malin, John Jorgenson, Gary Flinn, Portia A. Boulger, HRHPrissy, FlushFools, Glinda, KittyFitzgerald, LOrion, CMMorgan, CaptainMurdock, TKirkland, ProgLegs, Certinot…

The actual list is massive. More importantly, here's to the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of everyday concerned consumers who are supporting the protest by sharing boycott information on Facebook and Twitter, contacting sponsors, and signing petitions. The Limbaugh Sponsor & Clear Channel/iHeart Petition, alone has over 132,000 signatures.

This is good news. This is important and exciting news. It shows the power of the people. When we use our voices (and in this case our consumer dollars) to make our message clear, we are being heard. Through grassroots online organizations and everyday concerned citizens who now can be pro-active via the internet, we are exposing hate speech, racism, homophobia, and misogyny taking place every day, not only on talk radio, but throughout the media industry. With social media we are also exposing police brutality, environmental corruption, human and civil rights violations, and this is causing America to change for the better. It's a new day. It's a great day.

To join the hundreds of thousands protesting Limbaugh's hate radio, here are some easy ways:

Sign: Limbaugh Sponsor & Clear Channel/iHeartPetition
    Visit/Like: BoycottRush Facebook Group
Join: The Fight To Flush Rush
Visit: StopRush.net for an extensive list of Limbaugh Sponsors
    Twitter: #FlushRush and #StopRush
Thank you, Kossack Richard Myers. Rest in peace. We miss you dear friend. We are finishing this.

At a campaign stop in Manchester, New Hampshire, prospective GOP presidential candidate and successor to the Bush dynasty, Brother Jeb came forward to praise his own actions as Florida governor during a controversy that involved a woman in a persistent vegetative state. Terri Schiavo had suffered irreversible brain-damage and was being kept alive by machines against the wishes of her husband and, according to him, herself. And now, Bush's defense of that painful melodrama may cause him some problems with Sarah Palin and the Tea Party brigades.

Yesterday marked the entry of the third contender for the Republican nomination for president of the United States. Like the two that preceded him (Ted Cruz and Rand Paul), Marco Rubio hightailed it over to Sean Hannity's ring-kissing emporium to get the blessing of Fox News. That makes Hannity three for three in getting the first post-announcement interviews from GOP candidates.

In the months leading up to the invasion of Iraq, a country that was falsely accused by the administration of George W. Bush of harboring weapons of mass destruction, the media was nearly lock-step in agreement with the charges and the conclusion that war was an appropriate response. But after the stories began to fall apart and the reality that Bush and his cabal of neocons had deliberately misled the American people, some of the pundits and politicians who had been cheerleaders for the toppling of Saddam Hussein tried to backtrack and worse, to rewrite history.

The controversy over Indiana's so-called "Religious Freedom" law, that effectively gives permission for businesses to discriminate against LGBT persons, continues to divide the state and the nation in much the same way as civil rights battles in the 1950's and 60's did. And despite attempts on the part of Gov. Mike Pence to deny that the bill allows legal discrimination, the truth keeps leaking out.

The cable "news" network that is number one with racists has become a partner with some of the most vile white supremacist organizations in a campaign to intimidate and malign a college professor in Arizona. Fox News was the first national media outlet to condemn a course at Arizona State University called "U.S. Race Theory & the Problem of Whiteness," and their hostility has inspired a crusade of bigotry.

Trevor Noah on the cover of his comedy special
Trevor Noah on the cover of his comedy special "It's My Culture"
Last year my family and I lived in South Africa for about three months. Within 48 hours of being there, complete strangers started asking us if we'd ever heard of Trevor Noah. For the remainder of our unforgettable time there, next to people asking us if we were Americans, the most frequent question we heard, every few days, was whether not we had taken the time to watch one of his comedy specials. Born and raised in apartheid Soweto, South Africa, Trevor Noah is absolutely the most popular man in the country and one of the most beloved comedians in the world.

The internet is not super fast in South Africa, so people don't stream movies and YouTube quite like they do in America. That means DVDs are BIG in South Africa like they were in America ten years ago. After being asked a few times about Trevor Noah, we decided to take the plunge and purchase one of his comedy specials on DVD. You could pretty much find them at any/every store. It only took our family 30 seconds to realize just why he was so huge. Deeper than that, as a complex interracial family ourselves, we just understood him.

Born to a Swiss father and a black South African mother during the harsh era of apartheid, Trevor was primed to make fun of anybody and everybody in a way that no other South African truly could. Like the best comedians in the world, he was able to laugh at his pain of not being able to be seen publicly with his father during apartheid (it was against the law—his father was close with him in spite of it all) and simultaneously expose apartheid for the ridiculousness that it was.

Able to hop back and forth between cultures, I don't think I have ever heard a modern comedian more skillfully speak on issues of race, poverty, nationalism, and politics better than Trevor Noah. It's no easy thing, but the man was born to do it. This is what makes him the perfect fit for The Daily Show.

Head below the fold to understand why.

For the faithful, God is not just omnipresent, his visage is manifest in all things no matter how trivial. It is that devotion to holy encounters that has resulted in believers finding the Almighty in everything from toast to tacos.

The knowledge that the Lord is present everywhere and in everything must be comforting to those who require the assurance that their heavenly master is always watching over them. However, there ought to be limits to the imagination of these disciples. Not every vague profile of a man with a beard, visible when squinting at an old brick, is a manifestation of Jesus. Likewise, not every perpendicular arrangement of french fries or the twisted wreckage of demolished building represents the cross of the crucifixion.

That is, unless you are a five year old child, a glassy-eyed devotee, or a Fox News host.
