Banners & Ads on Kos

by Rosalie907

I don't know how banners & ads are run on Kos, are they run based on where you live or across the Nation.  Even so, I want you all to know that there is a banner and ad run on Kos by Dan Donovan who is running to replace Michael Grimm in NY CD-11.  In case you're not aware of it, Donovan is the DA who presided over the Eric Garner Grand Jury and is a Republicon.  I don't see him identifying himself as a Republicon in the ad and if any of you have donated to his campaign I suggest you ask for a refund.  Instead, donate to current New York City Councilman Vincent Gentile at is web site which is vinnyforcongress.com or though his Act Blue account.

This race maybe tight, at a televised debate run by a local TV station (NY-1), Donovan didn't even know the current minimum wage and after that he's skipped on 3 debates (with a 4th debate scheduled on Staten Island for Monday, April 27th on which he won't be participating in either) and he also has absolutely no legislative experience.

Vinny Gentile is what CD-11 needs and we need to add him to Congress.

As many of you know, I live in Brooklyn NY.  This afternoon my sister and I went to this Supermarket located in Marine Park Brooklyn which has good weekly sales.  Marine Park is a conservative neighborhood with mostly 1 & 2 family homes occupied by mostly Irish and Italian residents although this is changing. Where this Supermarket is located there is also a NYC Project.

Both my sister and I got on one line and the register next to us on our right wasn't open but the one next to that one was open.  All of a sudden we heard arguing and looked over.  There was a woman with a head scarf and a couple who were 3 people ahead of and they were arguing with her.  He kept calling her a Muslim terrorist and a murderer and she told him just because she's Muslim it doesn't mean she's a terrorist.  He was cursing her and accused her of being in ISIS and told her to get out of HIS country.  Luckily the Store Manager and another male worker came over right away to defuse the situation.  They took the Muslim lady over to another register which had been closed and opened it just for her so she could check out in peace.  I had checked out by then and so had the couple.  I saw the Manager and he told me that if that couple hadn't already paid for their purchases he would have thrown then out.  I felt so bad for the Muslim lady I just wanted to tell her that not all of us blame her or the Muslim community for ISIS but she had already left the store.

Is this what we're coming to?  If so we're in serious trouble and this will lead to something really bad happening.

I was washing clothes this afternoon and went into my sister's store to hang out between the wash and dry cycles.  We started talking about the news of the week and what was the most important thing that happened.  We both said the letter to Iran signed by 47 Republicon Senators was the most disgraceful thing that happened and not Hillary's email problems.  Of course as we discussed that one of her customers who we both know as an Obama hater and who thinks the letter was fantastic came in and put her 2 cents in.  I figured to be fair I would let my Kos friends vote to see what bothered them the most this week.  Personally, I think the Republicon Senators are Traitors and should be charged as such.  Hillary's emails bother me but no where near what Tom Cotton and those Senator's that signed the letter did.  How dare they?  In order to prove this, can you give me your thoughts and vote in the poll below.  Thank you.

Scott Walker is a jerk

by Rosalie907

I haven't seen anyone making this comment but, of course, with all the Diaries about Scott Walkers comments regarding how taking down Unions equates to his ability to take down ISIS.

Governor Walker, yes you have taken down Unions and 100,000 people but would you be able to do this if you didn't have a butt kissing gerrymandered Republicon State Legislation and judges that have covered your butt and allowed you to get away with whatever you want to do?

Take on ISIS, don't make me laugh.  It's going to take a hell of a lot more than a Koch boy like you to take them on.  You'll probably cower in a corner at the first terror attack they (God forbid) do in this country.  You're nothing more than a coward trying to sound like a hero in a cape leaping tall buildings in a single bound and this will come out very soon.  Chicken Little, that's what you are.  A so called "Republicon frontrunner" that wouldn't even answer a question on evalution because you were too afraid of it.

Wait Walker, 2016 is just around the corner and even if you're on the ticket for POTUS or Veep you'll be laughed at before the November election of that year.  You're nothing but a slime and without your butt kissing Legislators behind you, you're nothing.

I almost died from the Measles

by Rosalie907

I was born in 1946 and got the measles in 1949 or 1950.  This is an approximation because I haven't thought about this in years and both my parents have passed on.  At the time there was no vaccine and wouldn't be until 1963.

From what I remember, I got a very bad case of measles and was running extremely high temperatures.  Our family doctor would have wanted me brought to the hospital but because of bad weather and hospitals filled to capacity I had to stay home in my bed.  I remember my Mother sponging me down every couple of hours to lower my temperature, and constant visits from the doctor and antibiotic injections and whenever I opened my eyes my Mom was there, and didn't leave my bed until I was on the road to recovery. My Dad was there too and every night when he came home from work would give my Mother a break so that she could get some rest.

Measles is not a joke and parents should do everything possible to keep their children safe from it and other preventable illnesses.  Anyone in my age group will remember the Polio outbreak and how it caused deaths of both adults and children and also left some permantely unable to walk and breath on their ow(remember FDR). Governments (state) should mandate that all children should have the necessary injections to prevent treatable illnesses and politicans should MTOB.

Je Suis Charlie

by Rosalie907

We are all French today.  May those murdered today Rest In Peace, may their murderers be located, put on trial and convicted and may this crime never happen again. Freedom of the press and free speech needs to be defended by all of us on every level. If you can go to a French Restaurant or do something that shows your support for the people of France and especially for those 10 journalists and 2 police officers brutally murdered today.

Officer Liu lives close to me

by Rosalie907

As it turns out, P.O. Liu lives only about 1/2 mile from me so this afternoon I went to the home he shared with his wife of 3 months and brought some flowers to offer my condolences.  May both Officer Liu and Officer Ramos rest in peace.

Additionally, I have been thinking as to who has the blood on their hands in the murders of these 2 offices and feel that the blame in on the hands of the Eric Garner Grand Jury and D.A. Dan Donovan of Staten Island.  Pat Lynch the head of the NYC PBA says the blood of these officers lies on the steps of City Hall.  He's right, except that its City Hall on Staten Island where their blood lies.  Think about it, had Officer Panteleo been indicted
by that Grand Jury on S.I. these murders probably would not have happened. A special Grand Jury and prosecutor needs to be in place on cases like this.  There was video of the entire action, including seeing those EMS Officers doing nothing to help Mr. Garner yet Pateleo was not indicted (additionally, the EMS Officers have blood on their hands for doing nothing to help Eric Garner while he laid dying in the street)

As for the NYPD, they should shut up and stop adding fuel to the fire.  I know they're hurting but so is the family of Eric Garner and we must end the division this City is currently in and work together.  If you have a bad apple in the bunch you buy you throw it away so stop standing for Officers that bring disgrace to the NYPD.

P.C. Richards is a chain of appliance stores here on the East Coast.  They have stores in all 5 boroughs of NY, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Westchester, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  P.C. Richards cares about their employees and their families and as such, have always closed on Thanksgiving Day and will be closed this Thanksgiving Day so their employees can spend the entire day with their families.

While we complain every year about chains like Walmart, Kmart and all the other chain stores that deprive their employees 1 day a year to spend with their families for the almighty buck we should take a minute to thank P.C. Richards for standing up for their employees and their families and closing entirely on Thanksgiving Day.  I believe they open early on Black Friday but none of their stores will be open Thanksgiving Day.  Also, if you ever need an appliance, TV, camera or anything else, I suggest you shop at their store if you have one in your area, like I do (in the past few years I’ve purchased an air conditioner and a TV from them).  Their web site is www.P.C.Richards.com if you want to thank them for putting their employees and their families ahead of their profit margin.

Fired up & ready to go

by Rosalie907

I'm going to be working the polls tomorrow here in Brooklyn NY I know you're also fired up and sure you're ready to go  Remember to check on family members and neighbors and get them to the polls, especially the elderly who may need transportation.  Then, lets kick Republicon butt.

We have a local News Channel here in NYC called NY-1 and every night at 9:00 PM they have a program entitled "The Call" which covers a specific subject every night and listeners can call, email or twitter their opinions.  Last night, of course, the subject was Dr Craig Spencer who is now being treated at Bellevue Hospital for Ebola. Well, this hystrical woman calls in states that she lives 4 blocks from Bellevue and is so fearful of her puppy getting Ebola that she's not going to take it out for 21 days to poop!  I actually felt sorry for this woman, who has such a closed mind to the reality of how you can get Ebola.  I do have to say that someone else made the statement that we can't believe our elected officials because they told 1st Responders that "the air at Ground Zero was okay" and now we've been finding out it wasn't (of course this came from Guiliani and then EPA head, Christie Todd-Whitman, both Republicons.

I've discovered that people don't listen and are paranoid about Ebola and how you can get it.  One relative even told me that "well, you can get it just by breathing" (this was a George Will comment on FOX) and I told her to stop listening to FOX.

Ebola is scary but it is treatable, at least here in the U.S.and I certainly do hope that a cure is forthcoming but as for myself, I'm more afraid of getting mugged, hit by a car that can't stop for a red light or someone riding their bike on the sidewalk which is illegal and I have to say, ISIS.

Breaking News from MSNBC

by Rosalie907

It's being reported that ISIS has executed Steven Sotloff.  This is not yet confirmed by the State Dept but apparently this is a video of this which has not yet been released.  If this is true, may Mr. Sotloff rest in peace and may his family find solice in the memories that they have of him.

It's also being reported that ISIS has stated that they will also execute a British National and have shown that National on the video.
