Back in the day, your phone was hooked to the wall. You could slam down the receiver and break it, I guess, but it was pretty hard to loose it.
Now days, they are small, portable, fit in your purse or pocket. They go anywhere and everywhere, and nearly everyone has one. They are quite handy, but also easier to loose or break.
Here is how some of ours have died…
A few nights back, sharing a couple of home-brews, with my friend Mr. High Uintas got me thinking and remembering…
Everyone who has pets, can testify to their quirky nature, and the odd things they do.
Here is our little group of food mooching, bed hogging critters...
I am free of all prejudice.
I hate everyone equally.
Sounds a lot like the Tea Party members of congress, they seem to hate just about everything and everybody... except the money people.
Just a few more thoughts, some about aging, and some not.
Some people, in their mid-life crisis need a shrink, or a bar tender, I just write diaries...it's cheaper.
I started out to write a diary about aging and technology, but I seem to have gotten side tracked just a bit. I told my wife that it seemed to get a life of it’s own and go off in a different direction. She fired back, “Noooooo it’s because your old and forgot what you were doing”. I’d like to think she’s wrong, but she has me wondering.
Here is a quote from Harry S. Truman, 33rd president of the United States.
To me this quote sounds an awful lot, like the country the Republicans in general, and the Tea Party in particular want us to live in.
My wife and I met over the internet, on an AOL pen pal site.
She was looking to improve her English, and thought it would be a good idea to get an English speaking pen pal. I on the other hand am not quite sure why I was there, but I figured “what the hell” and put my information in. A couple days later she wrote to me from Germany. We corresponded back and forth, over the internet, snail mail, and ever increasing phone calls. I spent half a fortune on phone cards. Now days, she calls her family in Germany, for a few pennies a minute, but back then it was quite expensive. The first time I called her, it cost me $85.00. We did this for a couple years.
Later on, ignoring my brothers warning, that “she might be a notorious German ax murderer”, I visited her in Germany for a few weeks, later that year, she visited me here in Utah. We decided that getting married would be cheaper than paying the phone bills.
On my last diary about aging, a few of us were commenting on our fading memories. The use of notepads, sticky notes, and other helpful reminders. This got me thinking…
We lost a dear friend and neighbor Friday night.
There has been so much craziness coming out of Washington lately, it boggles the mind.
It amazes me that we elect and re-elect this bunch of nut cases. It makes me speculate about the motives of some of them. For some, personal gain, for others, time in the limelight, others just plain bat-shit crazy. One clown I think has visions of reading Dr. Seuss to us from the oval office.
I think for a lot of them it is hatred of the man in the white house, and they are willing to trash the country to get at him.
