Yes, I’m being blunt. No, I don’t care if it hurts your feelings. This is about honesty, truth, responsibility, and the future of the country.
Bernie Sanders ran a great campaign. He energized, he put his ideas out to the masses like he’s never been able to do before, he raised more money that I thought possible, and he did so without going into muck much at all. He and his supporters should be proud.
But today, the day after the final primary for the Democratic Party, is the day where the niceties end and I say it’s time to get in line or GTFO.
Right now, Clinton has more votes, more states, more delegates, more money, more infrastructure and with superdelegates she officially has the required number to secure the nomination. It’s not a question anymore, it’s not a debate anymore, it’s not a fantasy land of “what ifs”. H. R. Clinton is the nominee of the Democratic Party.
A little history lesson for everyone. Eight years ago Clinton supporters were up in arms. Pissed. Angry. They had lost a long hard primary and they were #neverobama. Once the primary ended the majority got over it, wiped away their tears, and helped elect our now President. But there was a group that said no. PUMAS were praised by people like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. This group claimed they didn’t want to elect McCain, but that’s what they did by attacking Pres. Obama at every turn.
PUMAS were purged from this site much the same as birthers were. They weren’t fighting to help elect democrats, and were in fact helping elect republicans. They deserved it. I’m sure Kos agrees. I hope Bernie and his supporters don’t want to be the next round of PUMAS. But if they do, then they deserved to be purged as well.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t be proud of what Bernie’s campaign has done. I’m not saying you shouldn’t keep fighting for liberal ideas in the party platform, I’m not saying that you should change your views or give up on your ideals.
Right now, today, this second, Bernie Sanders and his supporters have a choice to make. They can either shake hands at the end of the game like pro sports teams do and support Clinton, or they can cry, whine, attack Clinton, attack the party and help elect Donald Trump. It took Clinton a couple days to get in line 8 years ago, so I’ll afford Berniacs the same courtesy.
But it’s really a binary choice. Help Clinton or help Trump. There is no middle ground.
It’s time to make a choice. Get in line or GTFO.
