The Grassroots Inaugural Gala and Fundraiser for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) is selling out.  If you are still looking for a high-energy, relatively low-cost ($50) opportunity to celebrate our November victory AND raise money for an important community service - jump onto the State Theater website right now and get your tickets.

Hot music, hot hor's d'oeuvres, and a great crowd of Democratic campaign volunteers and activists. What are you waiting for?

AFAC is on the front lines of the current economic crisis.  The number of households it's assisting has increased from 500 to over 1000.  Have fun while you help others.  Details on the flyer after the jump.

Calling all DC Metro Kossacks - especially those of you who volunteered in Arlington and Falls Church. Please come join us! Party where you worked!

A number of NoVa Democrats felt that a grassroots campaign needed a somewhat more affordable and "homey" way to celebrate our victory than the more formal events going on during inauguration week.  So we got together and organized a GRASSROOTS GALA for Sunday, January 18th to let us party and re-connect with the people we worked with so hard this fall. Plus it's a food-bank fundraiser!

We've almost sold out by word of mouth through our e-mails lists and channels, but I'd like to open it up to Metro Area Kossacks who may be looking for a fun, relatively low-cost ($50) event.  Flyer below the fold.

This is a Rapid-Response Rally to support Sen. Obama's message.  (Please REC until 1:00 PM EST for maximum turnout)

Please come out and help the DNC and NOVA Democrats call media attention to McCain's positions on Social Security Privatization and Heath Care.

Johnny Mac has put his national HQ in Chrystal City in Arlington, VA.  Let's show him what we think of his flip-flopping on his Social Security Privatization record and his plans to open up

"...the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking..."

Contingencies Magazine, Sept/Oct 2008
by rallying in protest in front of his offices !!!

OK - This is it. Crunch time. Get Out The Vote. Stop typing. GOTV. Stop watching the pundits. GOTV. Stop parsing the polls. GOTV. Stop worrying about how Osama is playing in Peoria. GOTV. GOTV. GOTV.

It now depends on our efforts. If you're not going to OH, PA, FL, or WV, come to Virginia and switch 13 EVs from Red to Blue. The VA ground game is in full swing, well-organized, and can always use two more hands.

This coming weekend and Monday priority tasks include canvassing, phonebanking and visibility.  Election Day - doorknocking, poll work, and phonebanking. More details on http://www.virginia4kerry.com , or call the Clarendon (703-248-9330), Alexandria (703-549-3367), or Fairfax (703-207-2004) offices to volunteer.

Remember. We've come VERY far here in VA.  Now it's time to finish the play. Think how good it will feel to watch the incredulous faces of the mediaheads early Tuesday as they realize that they have just called Virginia for Kerry...

Do you want to be part of the first upset of Election night? Then: Cross a bridge. Bring a friend. We WILL win this thing.

Come to Virginia and take 13 electoral votes away from George Bush!

The latest Zogby poll puts us only 3 percentage points behind in VA. We only lost in 2000 by 200,000 votes - less than 100 per precinct statewide. Now we're below 40. We can win this thing.

Turn-out from Northern VA swung the state for Doug Wilder and this year is even more auspicious.  Bush support is weakening downstate around Hampton Roads and we have a strong Congressional candidate there in David Ashe.  Doug is running a spirited race in Richmond that will stimulate Democratic turnout.  New voter registration exceeds the difference between Kerry and Bush in the polls.  And I've never seen the energy in NOVA that I see today.

We are moving into the last days of canvassing and GOTV work and preparing for a big effort on Election Day.  Many people from the District and MD are going to FL, OH, and PA, which is great for those with flexible schedules.  However, I'd bet that there are a lot more folks who could get away on evenings, weekends, or Election Day.  We could really use them over here.
