The basic premise is that "nature" (the way things tend to go) favors the path of least resistance. Stuff likes to run downhill. That is why you see common themes, particularly in physical shapes and representations of active forces, recurring throughout an incredible range of sizes and causes. If you continue in both directions, essentially the theme continues in limitless size and variation. If you have enough time, and enough space, it becomes easy to understand we ARE the winners of an incredible lottery. Living, breathing, self-aware beings capable of seeing what we can see of the universe, throughout and within.
