Back in April, Newt Gingrich gave an interview to Christianity Today, a publication that bills itself as "A Magazine Of Evangelical Conviction". The magazine covers issues of faith and public policy, and is generally no friend of Obama. I don't know much about this publication, so any correction of my perception of it is welcome.
In the interview, he gave his opinion/standard talking points on gay marriage, taxes, spending, and the potential 2012 presidential field. My understanding of Newt's image is that he is popular among evangelicals and far right-wingers, but is exceedingly unpopular among everyone else. The comments attached to the interview paint a slightly different picture.
