What I hate about so called progressives is that we never stick by our "man", in this case President Barack Obama. There was a lot of work to get him re-elected by a lot of people here, but when the going gets tough "A.K.A. the fiscal cliff" we want to cut and run.
All of the sudden there are so many mind readers and people that supposedly know him personally (to the extent that they can anticipate his actions before he does them). The latest example of this is "He put SS on the table". Well how do any of US know what is intent was with 100% certainty? Because you heard some pundit (insert favorite here)say this or that? Has anyone here been invited/involved in any closed door meetings with the president? Has anyone heard the words " I intend to cave" come out of his mouth? My guess is NO.
Let's be real, no matter what the president offers or puts on the table, the GOP WILL NOT agree to it. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. He did not just fall off of a turnip truck....or luck into the office of the president. He KNOWS that SS is a sacred cow and would not just willy nilly offer it up without a plan in place.
I don't want to hear, well he did "XYZ" in the past. We are not talking about the past, we are talking about right now (December 19, 2012). IF and until we hear with 100% accuracy that he agrees to a deal with SS included and that it has been put on the table, the president deserves our 100% support (assuming that you were/are a supporter).
As for me, I will continue to support MY president until he leaves office. It's ashame that so many judge him before any concrete evidence has been put foward and/or actions taken place.
One thing I will give the GOP credit for ,is that they walk lockstep in good times and bad. No matter what people ask or say they have a concise and consolidated answer prepared.
Another thing: As long as this is progressive site, I should never see in the comments "My president is a doofus" "He is so dumb", etc. I think he deserves more respect than that, even if you disagree with his actions (imaginary actions in some cases). Yes we can disagree/offer up better solutions, but resorting to namecally the president is UNACCEPTABLE, period.
