In light of this day, to remember the vets who are and did serve for this country I salute you.

My eldest son, Army, still in. 2 tours Iraq, now helping them fall out of airplanes correctly.

My dad, Marine.  Served late 50's.  Couldn't be on a boat or plane without being devastatingly sick.

My grandfather, Army, WWII.  Was 3 F due to his heart valves, got to serve at the end when the invasion of Japan was imminent.

Live behind what is the "downtown" part of (2+ / 0-)
Columbia City, about where Tuta Bella pizza is.

Carol Cobb's place got destroyed by a high speed driver last week, along with the Greek place.  The driver took out the corner and front posts of the building.  It may get condemned due to safety issues (there are major cracks in the structure you can see from the street).

The owl and Bald Eagle still live in Steward Park.

The hawk is a new comer to the neighborhood.  It looked like it was going after one of the finches that have invaded the area, and smacked into some of the low branches over the sidewalk on Edmonds.    I walked towards it and it seem to recover and fly off between the houses.

I observed a young Red Tailed Hawk in my neighborhood on my way to the Columbia City light rail station.

It seemed in a bit if distress as it was attempting to maneuver between the houses and the trees/shrubs/landscaping.

If spotted, note where it is and call Seattle Animal control

Updates...

by doingbusinessas

Well my co-worker is taking some extra time.  He did come in for awhile the past couple of days.  He is in a deep funk or depression.  I have told him to call me anytime to talk, I have a good ear for listening to people's problems.

Now to me...  I went to my Orthopedic doctor down at Virginia Mason.  The good doctor put me thru another set of push, pull, bend, etc.  Most didn't bother me, some took me off the table.  The x-ray's showed like my other knee a bit of arthritis starting.  I would be looking at knee replacement in about 20+ yrs down the line.  But he did order up an MRI as I may have torn my MCL (it runs down the outside of the knee), possible torn meniscus, an possible tibia fracture in the joint.  If it is just a MCL tear, just being off of it and wear a brace for a couple of weeks will get it back towards being in shape.  If add a tibia fracture then I will be 6 weeks + in a stiff brace.  Any meniscus will be looked at on how severe it is.

So keep thinking of us!

Well not only for me.  But let me explain.....

I have a co-worker who has been being abused by his wife.  I know that this has been going on for some time.  He came in this morning with cuts on the side of his nose and under his eye (and almost a black eye), and a cut on his head.

His wife attacked him when he got home from work last night.  As far as I can tell he is a nice guy.  He has bent over backwards to please her since her father died last spring.  But the attack last night came completely out of the blue.  Our supervisor has given him a few days off to think about it.  He is completely depressed, despondent.  I gave him my personal number to call me any time day or night if he needs to talk, a place to stay or what ever.  Another co-worker know where he will be for the next few nights.    I think the Universe (or what ever deity you have) for the best outcome for he and his family.

Update on Grandma...

by doingbusinessas

As of last night here is what is going on:
   1. Her grandson's quick action got her to the hospital within the "golden time".
   2. She had multiple small strokes which shows in the MRI.
   3. Somewhat around the speech center
   4. The clot busting drug is working
   5. Her memory improved by 6 pm to recognize all parties in the room.
   6. Her memory of the incident is non-present.
   7. The have her sitting up in bed, they dont' want to risk her walking just yet as the blood thinners are at max.  If she fell it could be fatal.
   8. She is still on a goop diet (which she hates)
   9. PT will come in today to start the evaluation.

His grandmother is the only relative he can trust.  He has been living with her longer than we have been here in the PNW.  He is the best friend of my oldest at home, I feel like a father at times to him.

Candle lit for TestVet

by doingbusinessas

Just to let everyone know, I have lit a candle in memory of TestVet.  I have said a Mourners Kaddish for him.

May the light of this candle show him the path to the other side.

May his memory be for a blessing for all of us.
