I've lived in my formerly sketchy neighborhood for, oh, 13 years or so, and I've always walked down the street to the sto' on the corner for beer, cigarettes, and various sundries.
Tonight, a mere child (15 or so) rode up alongside me on a bike, cut me off and pulled a gun. Needless to say, he got my wallet.
Lucky for me, a neighbor was driving up the street at that moment, and I was able to flag him down. He drove me to the cop who was patrolling the 'hood.
I've filed the police report, cut off my bank cards, but what can I do to make sure none of my neighbors has to go through this?
I plan to talk to the guys at the store, since they love me, and will keep their eyes peeled, and will be dismayed to find that this punk was casing me in their parking lot, but what else?
I suppose I can:
- Contact my councilman.
- Get around to attending a neighborhood association meeting.
- Give a heads-up to all my neighbors.
Any other suggestions?
