All that being said, here it goes.
Both Hillary and Bernie have the wrong messages and ideas, and that is something they need to fix.
Hillary wants to allow college students to renegotiate loan rates, but when somebody hears this, they have to wonder, why should banks make money off educating a person? How about instead of renegotiating loan rates, government backed loans of 0% with other ways of paying it off, like selective service and volunteer services?
Bernie wants to make all public colleges and universities free, but what exactly does this mean? Can somebody attend college for 20 years, getting degree after degree for free? Imagine a new generation of people coming of age and doing nothing but attending the state university because it is free.
Instead how about doing what Obama said needs to be done? Free 2 year schools, which would also retool the those schools towards job training programs able to retrain somebody who in their 40's or 50's for a new job. Let the philosophers pay for their own degrees and make 2 year community and tech colleges free, as those are the places that train the labor force.
It is harder for Republicans to run against such stances of "no, you will not get a free degree in philosophy, but we will train you for a job."
As for health care, again Bernie and Hillary are both wrong. Don't build on Obama Care but change it drasticly. Create 4 regional health care systems north east, south east mid west and west. Insurance providers can compete in each of these 4 regional systems negotiating prices across state lines. It is already being done somewhat, just not officially.
This would also destroy one of the Republican talking points, Insurance companies use states to protect their profits. You also need to drive out the profit in providing insurance. Why should John Doe be able to invest in a company that makes money on whether it approves or denies a heart operation on Jimmy? Insurance providers need to be nonprofit, but not government ran.
Not medicare for all where government bureacy gets in the way, and there is tons of waste in fraud. Let consumer dollars decide which insurance providers are truly lean, yet providing quality care for its customers. Keep the rules of no denial based on pre-existing conditions, government help for those on the lower end of the economic side, and no denial based on gender. Just drive out the profit for health care in the system.
Do this and it takes away another GOP talking point.
Bernie and Hillary and others also need to fight back. When republicans talk about taxes and regulations getting in the way of business, they need to fight back. What federal government regulation prevents a restaurant from opening up? It is not a federal regulation, but a state or local regulation, and so it is GOP state representatives and mayors that are a detriment to business start ups. GOP governors are preventing the economy if jobs are not growing in their states.
What federal regulation prevents the lawn care service? The local taxi driver? The local hotel or grocery store? The local automative repair person or construction worker?
Sure there are Federal regulations involving truck drivers, trains, air planes and power plants that burn fossil fuels, but then again, who wants truck drivers, train engineers or pilots falling asleep because they work 100 or more hours in a week and don't get enough rest? Who wants to live across a state line and have lead contaminating your water or smog and smoke contaminating your air because your neighboring state does not care what happens to the water or air, but only cares about how much money the company will give to the governor's coffers for traveling to Florida for vacation time?
I am more supportive of Hillary then I am of Bernie, because I think Hillary will compromise and see the truth easier then Bernie will on this is the way to progress. My problem with Hilary is she seems to lack the fight and the ability to inspire. I see Bernie as stubborn and set in his ways though.
And if Bernie is the nominee, I hope the GOP nominates anybody but Trump, because Bernie can attract a large chunk of those Trump voters.
