Just saw Hubble at the Omnimax within the Science Museum in St. Paul, MN. Very cool.
It made so crystal clear how fragile life is on this planet and how much we don't know. It's like we're still all flat-earthers. Climate change? If you could see this film and walk away not caring that your SUV or mini-van spews toxins into the air we breathe, not caring that people are warned not to eat too much fish because of the mercury content, not caring that we're crapping all over our own house, you have an acute problem with reality. You're anti-life.
I'm sure many of us have mulled the question what we'd look like to entities from other galaxies or universes. And yes many of the clown leaders quibbling about job-killing this or that are not just angry white men, but better described as purely Id motivated infants. We, you and me, have a serious responsibility right now. To categorically beat them back into the laughable crazy old uncles that they are. They are not to be taken serious except for the train wreck they will continue to ravage upon our world.
I'm preaching to the choir here I know, but those of us who do a little to progress, need to do more. My recognition for those among us who have done a lot. Many thanks. My one thought for best course of action, after having read way too many diaries, is that we need to speak out. Get visible. Learn to communicate in ways that the less informed/motivated among us can get behind.
The noise machine from conservatives can be combatted at the local level. That means each one of us going to township and city meetings. Attend school board events. Write a letter to the editor every single week. Get specific with everyone you talk to because the noise machine only can exist if it's speaking in esoteric babble. It absolutely fails when it has to be specific.
This diary will likely pass into the abyss of my other diaries (cut me a break, I'm doing my best) but I think it's important that we recognize and communicate that our day to day actions have an effect on the big picture. And the unintended consequences of incorrect goals (the almighty dollar) have weighty consequences far into the future if we choose to blind ourselves as much as we do now.
That's probably about it. If you get a chance to see the film Hubble, take it. Almighty Kos-uber-familie, feel free to edit my tags.
