Here is the mixed blessing & curse of the 527s. Bush's (actually quite savvy) political move to ask that no more 527 ads be produced & aired. And, of course, called on the Kerry campaign to agree with him.
"The president has been on the receiving end of more than $62 million in negative attack ads from shadowy groups," Mr. McClellan said. "The president thought he got rid of this kind of activity when he signed the bipartisan campaign finance reforms into law."
Umm...cough*bushit*cough
Read the rest of the article. It also contained some info I was unaware of - that veterans still prefer Bush 58% to Kerry's 35%. I imagine that many vets are still offended that Kerry protested Vietnam when he returned to the US. It sounds like Bush is winning the meme war. Time to reframe Kerry's service? I mean, come on - we've got a real soldier with wartime experience on our side, and the Repubs have AWOL. WTF?
