Right now things are pretty bad for most of us. A deadly pandemic is loose among us and it’s abetted by the world’s biggest anal sphincter in the White House and the world’s biggest toady in the Senate.
These, I hesitate to call them people, things are actually taking our tax dollars for medical equipment and selling those items to some of us in red states for their own enrichment while withholding them to us in the blue states.
Now they’re paying morons with guns who pretend that freedom manifests itself from the barrel of a gun to tell us the economy and Wall Street are more important to us than our lives. If there had been a public medical system in place and sufficient testing then we wouldn’t have had to shut down the commerce. We know this because S. Korea has done it.
But there isn’t because the money has gone to wars, the wealthy, the Mar-a-Logos, and the morons who think that having lots of guns equals freedom.
But here at Kos you know what’s going on. Right now we have to fight off the idiots who want to open the economy so that an asshole can claim victory even when that victory is a lie, a scam, and is hollow as the promises Trump made as a candidate. Striking isn’t what we should do yet. Protesting, yes, as long as it can be done safely.
Right now we organize. Then when the economy gets going again we strike.
Strike for wages, strike for health care. Strike for education, and strike to take back democracy from Moscow Mitch and Wall Street, and the billionaires who have bought our government.
When they try to open the country and just before the election is when we have the most power. The economy is all they have and it’s now in rehab. The economy is all they want. We can pull the levers nows since 70% of the economy, before the pandemic, was consumer based.
When we go back to work for poverty wages with no child care, no security, and dirty energy to make the Kochs and David Green, owner of Hobby Lobby, wealthy, or to make the Zuckerbergs and the Mercers filthy rich then we will be sheep headed to the slaughter.
This Summer and Fall when the economy starts up again is when we can say no to ideas that made us poor and sick. Rolling strikes and walkouts if the Republicans try to blame Democrats for everything when it’s the Republicans who have handed nearly ten trillion dollars to the already rich starting when Trump took office.
This Summer and Fall before the election we demand more polling places with paper ballots and vote-by-mail.
This Summer and Fall before the election we take the lead by stopping work. This Summer and Fall before the election we show them who has power when they can’t run a consumer economy without workers. The pandemic proves they can’t function without the workers.
The pandemic here in the US has shown us that we’re wasting our time by going along with their lies and their diversions. They cannot function without us. This Summer and Fall we take back the levers of gov’t by walking out when they try to restart the slave economy. By not buying the products made in red states, and pushing back when they say we can’t afford health care, education, child care, and everything else we once had before Reagan got elected.
China is not our big enemy, it’s Reaganomics and the shills who rigged the elections, the stuffed shirts who pander to wealth, and the loud-mouths who say we can’t afford health care when the US is the only wealthy country without it. Scapegoating China will never solve our problems. Racism never solved anything.
The oligarchs are vulnerable now and the lockdown has shown how much they are vulnerable. The use of morons with guns to protest the lockdown, to ask people to risk their lives or their loved one’s lives for the economy has shown how much they are exposed. Even with trillions of dollars of tax money provided by the Republicans they can be kneecapped, the 1% can be defeated. This is the best opportunity I’ve ever seen in all my years as an American to call the shots. We don’t need Bernie to lead, we can do it ourselves (and Bernie can help). Along with Elizabeth Warren and AOC.
When the lockdown ends we can bring them to their knees. Strategic strikes, slowdowns, boycotts, and walkouts can be our leverage. Trump is ugly and destructive but he’s shown their hand and they can be removed from the levers of power.
The liberal coasts are the engines of commerce, along with a few cities scattered around the country, and if we stand up together then we can decide our future. It’s time to join together and formulate a plan, then take action. We can do it peacefully and together there’s no force that can stop us.
When the lockdown ends support progressive businesses, boycott the Hobby Lobbies, boycott the Chick-fil-as, boycott the GMs, and all the rest of the regressive morons. Boycott farm products from Devin Nunes’ district in Fresno, Ca. Squeeze them until they dry up and blow away. It’s not enough for them to pay for tuition, make them pay a living wage, make them offer decent work schedules, and offer hours that fit the worker’s desires and needs. It’s sick that in America people have to work three part-time jobs to scape by.
When the pandemic lockdown ends support businesses with union jobs. Buy from progressive businesses. It’s unlikely we’ll see an opportunity like this again in a while, a chance to sweep an election with progressives by making forcing the issues ourselves so put it to your local representative, ask them to support a progressive agenda, ask them to support a green economy with infrastructure spending, ask them to support universal health care and health care workers, ask them to support education and teachers. We tell them to support research and science. If they say we can’t afford it then we’ll tell them we’ll find someone who can. We tell them to change or we’ll change them for ourselves.
Before Reagan we had half-way decent prospects, educations, and access to health care (granted that was for mostly whites only) but now we’re all getting treated like we don’t matter.
Once we speak with one voice we’ve got them panicked. Now is the time to organize and speak together as one, backup our demands with action, and make our agenda the one that matters.
