So I'm looking through Seeing The Forest and come across this quote (via Moonie Times via UPI) from our good friend Dennis Hastert:
"You know, I don't know where George Soros gets his money," Hastert said on Fox News Sunday. "I don't know where -- if it comes overseas or from drug groups or where it comes from."
Isn't that slander? As in actionable, sue-his-ass slander? Does the "I don't know" really give you cover to say anything? Like, I could go on TV and say, "I don't know if George Bush screws monkeys up the ass", and it would be OK?
I didn't see the show, though. If anyone did and can say more about the context, I'd sure like to hear it. I know it's probably kind of dim to be shocked by anything these guys will say, but my word.
