Just as if it might make a difference.

Republican insiders regard Trump as the symptom of a disease that afflicts the GOP and fear that emergency restructuring is needed to prevent massive losses among racial minorities that are a growing share of the electorate . . .
Yeah, because that worked so well the last time they tried it.
Let’s see. Their 2009 autopsy said they should court women. So they put forth an all-out attack on Planned Parenthood and trumped up [no pun intended] charges to close abortion clinics while claiming they were “looking out for women’s health.”
Mike Pence [the guy who’s running for vice president, remember?] signed a bill requiring women to buy caskets and pay for funerals of any miscarried fetuses [even though the vast majority of miscarriages are not known to have occurred by the women in question.]
They refused to fund Zika prevention because the Democrats wouldn’t allow defunding Planned Parenthood to be attached to the bill.
They actively worked against equal pay for women.
They have fought tirelessly against affordable child care provisions while demonizing women for 1] working outside the home if they have small children and 2] staying home with their small children if they are poor.

They said they needed to bring minorities into their fold. And continued with the constant dog whistles: Rick Santorum—“Blah People.” Paul Ryan—“Makers vs. Takers.” Mitt Romney—“Self-Deportation.” [The hallmark of the Republican Party—Us vs. Them (whoever the “them” du jour may be.)]
And, today, North Carolina just continues to work to keep members of minority groups from voting. It is far from alone. Florida was required to redraw four districts this year because they were so obviously racially biased.
Then there’s this from the Texas Tribune:
The federal government is accusing Texas of circulating “inaccurate or misleading information” to poll workers and would-be voters about relaxed identification requirements for the November elections.

And speaking of the biggest “Them” bogey-man of all: there’s “The International Gay Agenda.” Because demanding equal rights is just so damned radical!
Here’s the “agenda” the LGBTQ communities have accomplished thus far:
✓ Exist
✓ Serve
✓ Marry
✓ Adopt
✓ Buy a cake
✓ Pee
All we need to do is never run out of check-marks.
Btw, I wish I could say this list was original with me but it isn’t:

So another autopsy will do a better job than the last one? Seriously? Maybe if they paid attention to it — but I’m certainly not expecting that to happen.
Here’s the biggest fallacy in the article:
Those involved in the plotting sessions say the GOP leadership have lost or ceded control of the Republican brand to outsiders who don't understand or care about the **ahem** principles for which it stands.
Uh no.
The principle of the Republican Party is “Winning is Good/Losing is Bad.” Any and all policies bend toward that end.
Witness one more quote from the article:
Republicans' top priority, these insiders explain, should be to reclaim authority over their party.
And THERE is your bottom line. It has nothing to do with making life better for the party’s constituents. That would be asking far too much.
After all, how is this different from Mitch McConnell’s Top Priority?
Um, yes. Top Priority: Winning is Good. Losing is Bad. The rest is just window dressing
