How to tell a primary is heating up, and that a candidate is turning into a real threat: the hit pieces come flying…
i.
Bernie is totally the source of the story about being accused of illegally busing out-of-state students, because he previously said that he would legally bus out-of-TOWN students to their hometown for the Iowa caucus. He’s the source, even though Hunt said that the Clinton’s were going to try to stop it from happening. And no one accused him of voter fraud, even though Hunt quoted them as saying they would try to stop it from happening.
ii.
Bernie is totally committing copyright infringement, because he used the logo of an organization that he got a 95% rating from to point out that he got a 95% rating from them, because by doing so he’s TOTALLY implying that they endorsed him, even though it said no such thing. And because he used a logo from another organization when talking up that organization’s pro-social security campaign. You know, the same organization that points to Bernie’s website regarding the pro-social security campaign, along with the other candidates, as a way of encouraging them to promote the pro-social security campaign—you know, like Bernie did in his mailer...

Bernie’s workers in Nevada were posing as non-Bernie-workers when they wore union pins next to their Bernie pins when they went to talk with Union people about Bernie! They even managed to go into some employee-only lounge/kitchen areas and talk about Bernie! SCANDALOUS!

Bernie ran a negative ad!! ZOMG! He promised he wouldn’t, and there it is, pointing out that banks like Goldman Sachs use their money to lobby for political influence! That’s a slimy negative ad!
So…
This all means one thing: Bernie Sanders is a crooked, nasty, no good, lying, corrupt politician—just like all the others. He’s no better than anyone else. SNORT!
But, guess what, people? If you want to convince the rest of us to vote FOR your candidate, then why not show us how your candidate is awesome? I think what these diaries are about are convincing people NOT TO VOTE for the other guy. That’s cynical. And that’s why people are sick of politics as usual, and that’s why Bernie is popular.
He ain’t perfect. He may lose. He may do a bad job. Whatever. We’re going to keep voting for the candidates that inspire optimism and hope, and a change from the cynicism of politics as usual. And the cynics are always going to come in doing the same exact cookie-cutter hatchet job: this new upstart is dreaming, this new upstart is just as crooked as the rest of ‘em, etc.

Looks like we’re already on step three!!
