    would be that a local prison effort would actually reduce prison populations.  Right now the most I ever interface with prisons is the big bus that I sometimes see on the road transporting prisoners from somewhere I don't know to somewhere else I don't know.

    I think if we had to drive by the prison every single day I bet our sentencing laws would be a lot more rational.

      is exactly that.

      On the other hand, we closed mental institutions, and the mentally ill are often too visible among our homeless, and it doesn't seem to have done much good.  

      When shit happens, you get fertilized.
