If people can change tags, there should be accountability - and consequences. It's meant as a good thing; for example, I often add tags that give a new user/new writer more visibility. I think ct can see who changes tags, as can admins. Why don't you file a report?

the tags you added? I guess it's just me, but I want to be responsible for my own tags, and sure don't want to add anything to anyone's diary without permission.

If you want to add to or otherwise change someone's tags, couldn't you send a private message and ask permission first? Or get permission by commenting in the thread?

      Oh well.

      •   I usually do ask, or mention it in a comment. (4+ / 0-)

Tags have always worked that way here, as far as I know. It probably goes back to a lack of software that would add the recommended tag automatically. (I like to think Cranky Users helped get THAT changed.)

Why didn't you remove the offensive tags when  you saw them?

to monitor my tags. When I came back to the diary this afternoon, people were asking about the tag in the thread. I didn't notice it until there were angry comments about it. Do you mean to say that we have to not only monitor all the comments, try to engage other people, and constantly monitor the tags as well?  And, to be honest, I didn't even know that we could screw around with another's diary like that....never dreamed it was even possible. I just do not know all the ins and outs of posting here. There are way too many little rules and things to learn for people who don't have time to be here all day....except for weekends, of course, lol.

If you post a diary through a group, any editor or admin in the group can edit your diary. Um-hmm. Even years later. I demonstrated that in a Cranky Users diary written by belinda ridgewood - while it was on the rec list, and to great laughter - but we all learned a lesson about editorial control that day.

Sounds like you're a natural for our group! We need cranky users who are willing to raise hell about defects in the site.

            •  Uh, I don't even know what a "group" is! (2+ / 0-)

I don't know what an HR is or what a donut is. I know how to recommend someone's diary, or recommend someone's comment, but don't know the purpose of hide. I don't know how to check my "list?" Don't know if I am a TU or not. Yes, I know I should have spent 10 hours reading all the rules, and the meanings and the FAQs, but I didn't. I don't understand how my DVD player works either, but I can work it.

However, I did attend NetRoots Nation in Austin, and check this website at least 3 times a day, does that help?

If you click on the "hide" button, you've given someone a donut, an HR. If enough people hide a comment, that comment - regardless of diary - can be seen in Hidden Comments by all Trusted Users.

There's a hidden comment in this diary: right here. (You won't see hidden comments in diaries you're reading, even as a TU, unless you set your profile choices that way.)

There's a link to the FAQ in every Cranky Users diary, and you might find it interesting to scroll through some time. You'll learn all kinds of odd things about this place.

to show displeasure with the comment?  Do hidden comments go away? What can I buy with my 3 bars of mojo and where did you see my info?  I know, I need to go read all that stuff, but honestly....just don't know what the purpose of all that busy-stuff is. Sometimes I think this site makes up all the busy-stuff to keep us...well, busy inside of a bubble, to make every little thing seem overly important, like ants scurrying around. Oh, just me being cranky again.

I used to get cranky with PMS.
                  I'm now cranky with Menopause.
                  Don't pay any attention.
