  •  I think this is worthy of a dedicated diary (9+ / 0-)

I wrote a diary yesterday about backing up the protests by voting with our wallets: dumping credit and debit cards as much as possible and using cash. The response from most people starts with trying to get over the inertia of inconvenience... "I've got all my bill-pay accounts set up, what a hassle." And when they begin to really think about it, they then run up against where to go. "How do I find a credit union in my area." Those questions are the big focus right now, but this points to something much more fundamental: It doesn't make sense to move your money blindly, especially if you're just dumping it into another cesspool. We need an informed diary, and ideally, a clearinghouse of information that can be crowd sourced, showing people where to make the smart move with their money.

    •  Agree. And inconvenience is not an excuse (1+ / 0-)

when so many people at the heart of OWS are enduring difficult conditions, violence and arrest, and non-violent folks in Boston are enduring arrest and government theft of their belongings.  That's a little inconvenient, too.

Some people are truly so overburdened with family responsibilities and trying to hold down more than one job, or struggling with illnesses, that it is more than inconvenient for them, and I am not including them in my "inconvenience is not an excuse" statement.

Yes.  Please.  A dedicated diary on how not to move our money blindly, but intelligently
