I'm getting unemployment in California, which arrives on a BofA debit card. And yes, if I were to take the money directly from the card, I'd have to pay ridiculous fees every time.

But they DO provide direct deposit. You can go to BofA's website for the card and set it up to to go automatically to any other account. I send it to my credit union, and then use my regular debit card as usual. Doesn't cost a dime. I have to wait an extra couple of days for the deposit to go through, but it's worth it to keep all of my money.

Not that I don't care about BofA's fees. But you don't have to pay them if you have another account to transfer the money to.
