in theory because statistically, things have been getting worse for the rest of us.  But what really swayed me to full committment of the Occupy movement was watching and listening to them on Live Stream.  They are smart, committed, egalitarian, and altruistic.

We have seen that the old ways no longer work.  I know.  As recently as last March, I was involved in a number of single day protests in Florida that got us no where.  The 2008 election proved that even energized citizens with their feet on the ground did not get us real change.  A jobless recovery and massive growing income inequality is not a real recovery for most Americans while the banks and corporations are recording record profits.

The Occupiers have put their lives on the line for a better future for all of us.  There is something really right about people who are that committed to challenging the old order and are doing it by ripping off the veil of illusion and showing us just how ruthless the powerful are.  It is empowering and they have empowered us all.

The United States is not just losing its capacity to do great things. It's losing its soul.--Bob Herbert. gulfgal98's corollary- We are fighting back to save our soul. Thank you, #OWS for empowering us all.
