  •  The way Dennis Kucinich is treated demonstrates (0+ / 0-)

… certain limits imposed by the system on what can be advocated policy-wise on the "D" side.

The way Ron Paul is treated probably demonstrates the same on the "R" side.

Kucinich, Paul, and Howard Dean seem to be the ones most treated as outsiders by the gatekeepers within their own respective parties.

I suspect this is because everyone else, D or R, belongs to a kind of de facto War Party which they have often stood alone in opposing.

There are also the limits demonstrated by (1) what happened in the 2 years following the Dem victory in 2006, and (2) what happened in the 2 years following the Dem victory in 2008.

Based on that record, the driving impulse for policy shifts that venture beyond such limits is going to have to come from outside the system.
