  •  I know that isn't going to happen... (16+ / 0-)
We are never gonna have a God that
reaches down and smacks our enemies

    I've lived through the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's
and George Bush and have never seen anything quite
like what's going on today.  It's surreal and quite
unnerving to see the changes that have happened
to this country over the last 50 years.  Seems like a
Twilight Zone episode without the music.  I am trying by
making phone calls and getting out into the community
involved in local politics and helping those less fortunate.
But I still want to wake up from this bad dream.... sigh....

    •  It is awful. I have never seen such a rush (10+ / 0-)

to figure out ways to screw us by the so-call representatives.

    •  This Is Like Nothing We've Ever Seen Here. (10+ / 0-)

      Ever.

      I've lived through the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's
and George Bush and have never seen anything quite
like what's going on today.  It's surreal and quite
unnerving to see the changes that have happened
to this country over the last 50 years

I was born in 1959 so I was a kid when the civil rights marches, voting rights, segregation, busing and Vietnam protests were going on but I understood that certain groups of people in this country were getting oppressed and worse and I didn't like that.

This is far worse than that in part because this affects multiple demographics groups: young, middle age, seniors, veterans, college grads, homeowners, the poor, the unemployed; it's multi-racial, affects both men and women - basically it's 1000's of people with the potential to be millions more!!  Add to that the fact that we are a global civilization and this very thing has been and continues to go on around the world - and you have an epidemic of greed, corruption, brutality, arrogance and now fear for their status quo - the likes of which we've never witnessed.

What seems surreal is us witnessing the now exponential acceleration of greed, corruption, brutality, arrogance and unaccountability because we, as an electorate were either asleep at the wheel and didn't participate in this thing called democracy, or were duped into voting against our best interests as middle class Americans.  Democracy as the first syllable of this word indicates (demos "people", kratein "rule") is more than a concept - it is a living, breathing process that will die or become diseased as it is now - if not participated in by ALL, or as many as can be enlisted to participate.

The right wing beast never slept, not since the 50s, got a foothold again in the 70s, continued the march in the 80s and 90s and really let fly its destructive nature during the 2000 Bush years.  Sadly it's been perpetuated and even in some cases accelerated by this current administration.

Sorry to go on like that...

We must fight.  We must stay strong.  We must not be broken.  There is a Proverb that says a chord of many strands is not easily broken.  The 99%ers MUST remain many strands.

      •  I agree with you, I was just thinking on the way (5+ / 0-)

home this isn't like the 60's they are targeting us all, white,
black, latino, everyone.  I don't think that Obama is trying
to perpetuate it, but I've been wrong before.

        •  Yes which is why this is a genuine class war! (7+ / 0-)

Rich vs. poor and they've been building their arsenal for decades politically, judicially (SCOTUS), legislatively, financially, in the media, and created and continue to dupe weak-minded individuals or haters to their cause like Teaparty nincompoops for example!

As for President Obama I have to believe that since the DHS is an "agency" of the Fed that he is informed of what they're up to.  He needs plausible deniability which is why it's [crickets] from the Administration.

He wants to be re-elected, needs 1%ers money so the fix was in almost from the get-go and for certain after Citizen v. United became law of the land.

We as a movement definately need to hang in there.  Regroup, get creative, keep it going and build it up stronger.

Otherwise we, our children and our children's children are facing a third world lifestyle of misery.

          •  Don't worry. We aren't going away. We are (3+ / 0-)

Americans.  This country was begun as a protest against abuses of authority.  The first ten Amendments to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights - were written in response to threats of abuse of authority right here in America.
It's time to exercise those rights to see just how many of them have been compromised.  Those rights are our muscles - and if we don't exercise them occasionally, we become weak and atrophied.
            The time is NOW.
