let me just suggest that insurance is a racket. Insurance makes nothing certain, other than that a class of middlemen will collect money to keep themselves and their kin from having to do any real work to sustain themselves.  Health insurance does not keep people healthy; it does not prevent people from getting injured or sick. Neither health insurance nor medical care keep people from death, eventually.
Medical care does keep people from premature death, either before or after birth, and the people who provide it are entitled to be compensated for their skill and caring service. Were insurance to guarantee that compensation and do so at a fair rate, the payment managers might deserve their own compensation for a modest kind of service. Since they don't, they don't.  And I, for one, do not intend to participate until the useless middlemen are removed.

The providers of health insurance services have been given an opportunity to prove themselves useful.  They seem to be flubbing it, much as the banks are proving themselves incompetent in managing our money. So, we have to work around them.
