    The amount of capital seeking a return (historically 3% is considered reasonable) far outstrips the opportunities for productive investment.

    That's why we have suffered with a bubble economy (gambling, rather than producing wealth) for several decades. That's also why publicly owned resources, public utilities, schools, you name it, are under assault to be privatized. They can be turned in to milking machines once in the private sector.

    Capitalism, as a progressive force in human development, is dead. We just have to face up to that reality and push it out of our way.
