that means you are sitting on your hands. Go out and find them, recruit them and get them elected.

And as to the fear part. I am not so sure about this approach either. The Republicans feared/fear the Tea Party and look where that has gotten us.

Like it or not we all do not think alike in this country and most certainly the 99% don't all think alike. So in order for government to function at all there must be compromises. If our elected officials respond only to  ideology and fear no one gets anything let alone getting close to what they desire.

Republicans 2012 . . . Keeping millions out of work to put one man out of a job.

because so far, all the compromising is moving things to the right.

I'm gonna leave this discussion now, because I have other things that need doing.

But the message I think needs delivery is NOT to OWS-it's to those in power who resist necessary changes.

we can no longer start at the compromised position and then compromise further.

that's a losing proposition, and it is what has been occurring for close to fifty years. it has to stop.

you don't get compromise to the middle unless your starting position is at least as far from the center as your opponent's is in the other direction.

those elected officials should be in fear, and respond to the ideology of their party's base in their initial positions. that doesn't mean they should always be obstinate about accomplishing their exact proposals.

    •  The Tea Party got us a ruined country (0+ / 0-)

It also got them to show up, because dammit, they won.
Mostly. (Joe Miller Sharron Angle Christine O'Donnell Dan Maes; snicker)

Politicians do respond to fear that someone will show up and vote them out. But you have to follow through and show up (be a voter) for them to fear you.
