  •  Great diary. Great idea. By keeping OWS separate (7+ / 0-)

and unaffiliated with any group besides America-at-large it can use its voice where needed.

Cozying up the the Democratic party won't help either the Dems or Occupy.

It will also serve to avoid the horrible mess the group of clowns known as the "Tea Party Caucus" are in.
Those folks who signed on to the astro-turf Tea Party are now stuck with it.

We don't want an occupy caucus. We have a progressive caucus, that may or may not be supported by most Occupy folks.

Occupy has already managed to drive the conversation back toward a civil society based on the social contract (and Republicans are all coming out to talk about how they want to destroy the social contract - Rousseau is probably turning in his grave).

We should keep the occupy conversation going, and fight out the electoral politics in light of that conversation, but separate from it.

Occupy: "We don't want our children to starve!"
    Electorate: "Neither do we!"
    Republican candidate: "Too F'ing bad."
Democratic candidate: "I like feeding kids!"

Electorate votes for the guy who likes to feed kids.

the Democratic candidate isn't at all likely to say what you said, but something like: "Yeah, we should feed kids, but it's too back we can't."

Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.

        alignment.

The Occupy says: There are no viable candidates here. Get someone who actually like feeding kids.
