    than you think.

You can protect yourself from tasers by wearing clothing with conductave textiles.  I made a pair of stainless steel boxer shorts using the stainless steel mesh used to make silk-screens for the printed circuit industry.  Although it is stainless-steel, the "cloth" is very soft and does not chaffe, especially when worn on top of regular undergarmets.

Laser weapons can be defeated by wearing video goggles.  Laser light will NOT destroy the CCD in the video cameras. I have read several posts above -- speculations that these weapons are for disabling cameras but that is not practical without a LOT more laser power than these devices emit, and if you are only temporarily blinded then this in itself is enough information to indicate what the relative power at contact point would be and it is not enough to damage a CCD in any way.  Many years ago using video caneras salvaged from old webcams and mini LCD displays from old cell phones I successfully built a pair of video goggles with a built-in sonar range finder to use while hunting that work great and would not cost much to reproduce.  When I tested them I did several tests using laboratory lasers to determine the accuracy of the rengefinder system and many times hit the CCD with the beam directly.  The cameras were not affected  even with laser light directly aimed at them point-blank range with an output power of 50mW (this is low but at point-blank range it would have the same effect as a higher power device at a longer distance).

To make the goggles more effective and to implement the on-screen display the video from the cameras is passed through a digital signal processor which is programmed to eliminate "starburst" distortion as well as compensate for light levels. I could easily implement the same for laser light bursts and if I had the right cameras actually determine the laser light frequency and power at contact.

In any event the project was very easy to build and works fantastic.  Maybe I will post a DIY on my website sometime this year.  I am an EE with a lot of specialty tools but I think I could get about anyone through such a project as long as you can work with very small parts...

I would love to see both you and Farmer Chuck to get together and write a Diary about these things.  I can almost guarantee it would make the Rec list.  We all need to hear about solutions and ideas to protect ourselves from the assaults.
