  •  I agree with you re: Reagan. (6+ / 0-)

    Another unnamed, unindicted mass murderer.

Shilts' book is excellent, a great chronicle of the unfolding epidemic and the deliberate inattention to it from the powers-that-be.

I had forgotten the part about looking at HCW to see transmission. Horrible. Heartless.

You have seen a lot, on the front lines. Maybe in your spare time you should consider writing a memoir.

the information I had on the care of hospitalized patients with AIDS came from my fellow nurses who were providing direct care.  They were scared shitless and angry at Reagan for his monetary incapacitation of the CDC.

I do remember reading the MMR (Morbidity and Mortality Report) that the CDC publishes where the very first article on AIDS appeared.  It was a notation of young men who were being diagnosed with Caposiis sarcoma, a rare disease geneally affecting elderly men of Italian heritage.  Since the MMR normally involved communicable diseases, I found it curious that they would discuss a rare tumor in its pages.  I remember thinking that this is "important" because nothing like that ever appeared in their periodic newsletter before.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.
