Ten Dollars Sick.  I was worried about that, too, which is why I held off on cough syrup.  Doc says no and ordered cough syrup with codeine.  I'll just use that at night and hope I can finally get a nights sleep and regular stuff in the daytime if the coughing gets unbearable.

Coughing is actually good because it clears the goop.  But the irritation from a continual cough triggers an asthmatic response.

    •  So sorry you are ill, Puddtat. (5+ / 0-)

Your health is so important, as is everyones. I am in NYC and have been following the brave stalwarts who are working to unseat Governor Walker. You activists are role models for the rest of this nation.
Your essay, Ten Dollars Sick, could be describing what is happening here in New York City, one of the wealthiest world cities.  The public hospitals are in crisis on top of losing 8 hospitals over the past two years. Our governor, Andrew Cuomo, is proposing that Brooklyn and Queens hospitals be merged and taken over by private (Wall Street) to make money. A big conference with the players is being held on Wednesday, January 11, and OWS-healthcare is prepared a good fight and joined with the community groups as well for a big media conference one hour before the meeting. The question always is, will anyone hear the community people speaking for the health care needs rather than the dollar values for privatization. We will see.
But the story is the same as in Wisconsin, and let's be truthful, it is the same accross the United States.

Get well soon. And thanks for all you do to keep democracy and humanity alive. We need you more than you know.

My hospital, St. Vincent's, closed last year after 160 years of service. Now, we have no hospital on the entire Lower West Side of Manhattan and your life in an emergency depends on how traffic happens to be  working as ambulances try to get you to the East Side trauma center. Some do not get there in time.....and many in the community do not know where to access care without the medical center that was always there for everybody. This is America.

hospital make money.  When it doesn't, they close it.

There is no profit in caring for poor people.  There is only humanity in that action.  We are judged, not just in heaven, but down here on how we treat the least among us.

We need to hang onto all our private hospitals and open more unless we get Single Payer.  As things are now, it ain't working for anyone but the health care, Big Pharma, and insurance company executives.  Shame on them.
