  •  no fear of ocean rising problems (0+ / 0-)

Except for those small island countries that will be so low that storms will now be able to wash over them completely. If you think about it, the oceans rising a half - inch every five years or so is something modern technology can deal with. It may take 10 years to build a higher port facility, but it can be made two feet higher and that will suffice for decades.
Humanity will not go extinct. However hi-tech civilization will take a big hit, though not go extinct. When weather upsets growing seasons, ramps up flood frequency and intensity (including hurricanes and cyclones), reduces water available for irrigation, destroys transport system infrastructures, disrupts mineral and coal mining -- it will take a generation or two for the "new reality" to sink into the minds and systems of the human race, and them to cope effectively.
Consider how much of what Americans do and how they live is based on constant home supllies of clean water and electricity. How can we maintain that lifestyle if our supplies of these things become as erratic as Bagdad's?
A far more serious problem is the acidification and warming of the oceans, and what that will do to the many species we harvest from the sea.
