    are worthless. CA law is very specific and, what's more, skilled employees in Northern California are pretty well-informed so the employees of those papers probably know it.

    I know (of) at least one of those papers; Santa Rosa's not all that far from SF after all. Santa Rosa, at about 250,000 people, is the largest West Coast city between SF and Portland and its paper is widely-subscribed for quite a distance. No idea if those three papers have unions representing their employees but I'd be very surprised if they didn't. And I suspect you'll be hearing the noise from quite a distance.
