    Probably a big factor in decisions to go back to assembly in the USA is that American wage scales have collapsed to the point that American labor is competitive with foreign labor when transportation and other costs are factored in.
      Any job is better than no job, I guess, but when European manufacturers assembled cars and heavy machinery here because labor is cheaper than in Europe, and when American workers are able to snag jobs from Asia because of "the law of one price," it kind of dampens our nationalistic pride.
