    I've read articles where manufacturers are bringing production back the US because the frequent quality issues and other intangibles such as the language/cultural barriers that can cause problems when you are trying to get the remaining US based teams to coordinate with the off-shore teams. It's usually the R&D that's still based in the US.

    Most of the articles were about small to mid-size manufacturers, but I've heard anecdotal stories about very large manufacturers having such quality disasters that the margins they are saving start shrinking fast.

    For the ones I read about that are moving production back home, they were willing to cut their margins to get rid of the headaches.
