the Goopers made sure that most of the ACA does not kick in until 2014.  The changes so far are good but slight compared to what is coming - if it can be protected.

    Still enjoying my stimulus package.

    •  ACA will reduce costs in 2014? (5+ / 0-)

I do know this about 2014: I will be required to buy insurance. I wish I could afford it now. Actually I wish I could afford health care. Now I know what you're going to say. You're going to say that low-income people will receive a subsidy. Unfortunately for the self-employed, gross income is equal to all receipts. I know this because I was denied food stamps and was told this. Which means that say I spend $20K to make $40K. Say I also receive another $4K in purchases which are refunded or chargebacked. That's $20K income. Except it's calculated as $44K gross income.

Even if this were not the case, I do believe that in 2014 medical costs and insurance will be higher than today.

      Same as it always was.

    •  how did they do that....none of them voted for it (2+ / 0-)

the reason it was delayed was for setup and fiscal engineering...

and Dem leadership in the Senate who chose 2014 as the year for most ACA benefits to become effective.  There were quite a few Dems in the House and Senate who waged a battle to make 2013 the effective date, but they were overruled by the WH.
