  •  In the end, I bet (5+ / 0-)

...the pharma deal is the one that is going to hurt Americans most. That one hasn't even started to play out.

    •  It sure has (5+ / 0-)

You should try listening to some of the stories I hear from people who hit the donut hole.  How soon and how long they're in that predicament is directly related to that corrupt deal.

...forced through congress under the Republicans. I think they held the voting open all night or some crazy unprescedented thing to get it passed.

I wasn't as politically focused then (read insanely cynical). I couldn't figure out why the Republicans wanted to help older Americans pay for "medicine."

        Boy was I dumb.

But I bet if you ask any Republican voter about it today, they would be against it. They sure wouldn't believe Republicans proposed and passed such communistic and sharia-marxist legislation. (Even it it was booby-trapped.)

Hmmm. Think I'll ask the wingnut next door about it.

... and the only reason the donut hole exists is so they could lie their way to a politicially plausible cost for Medicare Part D.  But the costs of drugs for seniors on Medicare are real, and failing to negotiate those prices down tips millions of them into that hellish donut hole when they might have avoided it with a stronger HCR bill.
