    was the way his daughters' statement was framed.

    “Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events,” said the adult daughters.

    “We will not say anything negative about our father's ex-wife. He has said before, privately and publicly, that he regrets any pain he may have caused in the past to people he loves.”

    What about causing pain to the people who loved him?

    It really is all about Newt.

    The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy... the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.
