  •  not in the GOP primary. the reality is that (0+ / 0-)

the Bain ad gave the GOP an excuse NOT to cast their vote for Romney The Inevitable.

They couldn't care less about the substance of the Bain ads. DemFromCT shows that they felt the ads unfair and yet felt investment banks and other such institutions are good for America. They don't care about Bain, as a message, per se.

But the attacks gave them a way to feel like casting their vote for Newt wasn't a wasted vote.

Easy analogy. You favor a "flawed and hated but strongly progressive candidate" running for the nomination.  But by the time your primary comes around its looking like a vote for that candidate is a wasted vote. He's going up against Joe Lieberman, the establishment choice, you hate and who won in Iowa and NH and who has momentum going into your state.

Suddenly a SuperPac for your candidate runs a seriously damaging ad against Lieberman. Then word comes out that Lieberman actually DIDNT win Iowa. Your candidate is picking up steam.

    What do you do?

The ad wouldn't matter. Suddenly your preferred candidate looks viable again. So you vote for him. It's really that simple.

I've become re-radicalized. Thanks a lot you bunch of oligarchical fascist sons-of-bitches. But once again, I have no choice. Bring it the fuck on.
