    are both Democratic presidents.

As politicians, the resemblance ends there.

Carter and Obama.  I was just thinking more along the lines of don't count your chickens before they hatch.

OTOH, the Republicans are drooling about Iran so much that you have to wonder just how far they'd go to get a hot war going with them.   Seems to me that Iran is the only possible vulnerability that Pres. Obama might have in foreign policy.  Not a justified vulnerability, though.

never had to contend with a significant group of people questioning whether he was an American citizen.

Did you notice that former Senator Frothy Mixture yesterday failed to correct a woman at a rally who said that Obama was an "avowed Muslim" who wasn't entitled to be POTUS?  When asked why he didn't correct her, Frothy Mixture said it wasn't his obligation to correct people who say things at his rallies he doesn't agree with. Making him even more pathetic than John McCain, who at least (sort of) corrected a woman who called Obama an Arab in 2008.

and credit to the human race.  As President, however, he was a shitty communicator and a bit of a scold. Nobody wants Captain Bringdown as their leader when times are tough.
