    I consider him a good commentator, explaining the Rethug mindset while not really defending it. He is worth listening to.

    However, I don't think he has connections to the party leaders any longer and may not be accurate on what is going on in their tiny little pea brains because he thinks somewhat rationally.

    I don't understand why TPTB on the right are afraid of Newt. He will spew non-stop lies about Obama in a way that no other candidate can match. It will energize the base and win over a number of low-information voters. Everyone talks about how Newt talks without thinking but I don't think he has made an public utterance that you can count as a mistake (in relation to his right-wing audience) since the 'right-wing social engineering' comment. He has been incredibly disciplined. Newt would be a much more dangerous candidate to run against than Romney.

    You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia".
