    Reagan was able to play the part of a strong but sunny leader, using There you go again! to tar Jimmy Carter as a nagging worrywart.

    Newt's only successful mode is as a flamethrower.  I don't think it'll happen, but just imagine how delightful it would be to see him in a debate with President Obama.  Newt would characterize something the President said as "disgusting" or "un-American," and President Obama would respond with something like:

    Well, Newt, I'm not surprised to hear you say that.  So far this Fall you've called me un-American, neo-Colonial,  a food stamp President, a welfare President, a socialist who's in bed with Wall Street, against workers but beholden to the unions, and a bunch of other stuff I suspect I've missed.  Oh, and an elitist who's out of touch with middle America, although I should point out that, unlike you, I've never had a $500,000 credit line at Tiffany's.

    And then the President would pause, and let the fact sink in with America that Newt is a stupid bully.  President Obama would look so cool, and Newt would look like a moronic hothead.
