    when he straight up told a guy not to spout lies on his show.  that was awesome lol.

    I'm aware that the British press is considered much rougher on pols than the American press.  Bashir would seem to embody that truism.

    •  There was a whole generation (4+ / 0-)

      of idealistic journalists that came into being in this country post-Watergate, with the intention of speaking truth to power and bringing it to light. That was the glamorous profession to go into at that time, kind of like MBA's a decade later, and hedge fund managers after that (note the hideous trend toward more and more naked pursuit of wealth with less and less redeeming social value).

      What ever happened to those noble warriors? They haven't hit retirement age yet.

        Reporters are pressured by editors and interviewers are pressured by producers, certain types of reporters and interviewers are promoted while others are ignored, editors and producers are pressured by their corporate owners, and the end product is bland, mindless, distracting crap that passes for traditional media now.
