Many years ago, the great Chicago reporter Mike Royko was vacationing in Chippewa Falls.  Apparently, there was a major uproar there because the County Sheriff had used a county lawnmower to mow his lawn.  The story received intense day to day reporting in the local paper.

Royko thought this was hilarious and wrote a column about it.  He contrasted the actions of this sheriff to your typical Chicago Alderman and then laughed at the thought of what would happen in Chippewa Falls if they every experienced the kind of corruption accepted as normal in Chicago.

But there was admiration behind Royko's metropolitan smirk.  He thought it was great that Wisconsonites had a very low tolerance for corruption.

I really hope that is still true, because Walker has brought Chicago levels of corruption to what had been a fairly clean state.

This aggression will not stand, man.
