    It varies by the study and the metrics it uses, but by any measure a very large percentage of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Probably 80% or more of Americans would not be able to make it more then a couple of months without a source of income. Income insecurity is sadly normal in America. The biggest difference is perception is between those who have experienced loosing their primary source of income and those who haven't and lack the imagination to envision it ever happening to them.
