  •  You know, it's later than it should've been, (4+ / 0-)

    but I'll take it!
There's a lot I would've liked to have seen sooner, like calling the Republican's bluff, fighting for a Jobs Plan, taking independent (Executive) actions where he could, drawing down in Afghanistan, etc., etc., etc., but I'm going with the "better late than never" on these things.
I'm not exactly sure how or why, but it seems to me that President Obama got his groove just about five months ago now. At first, it seemed like it might just be a temporary thing, but since September he's only been getting tougher.
The nice part is that the Populist stances he's been taking since then are paying off not only in terms of better policy, but  are boosting his numbers politically as well.
It could be that he got fed up with the GOP nonsense, it could be that the OWS movement is having an effect (make me do it!), it could be that he's found his center, or that he realized that Progressives have been right from the start, or who knows, maybe Michelle just urged him to "get real!"
Whatever it is, I'm encouraged. And it just goes to show all of us that staying involved is the way to go. Democracy takes a lot more than just casting a vote every so often. Democracy involves active participation, and I'd urge fellow Kossacks and fellow Progressives everywhere to keep it up!

Occam's razor and the "history repeating itself" meme, however, suggests that it is the looming election.

So enjoy the next 10 months, after that things will be quite bleak for the next 4 years at least.

      •  I'm sorry, but I just can't stand that attitude. (2+ / 0-)

Being a gentleman, I'd never suggest it, but if I were not a gentleman I'd probably tell someone with that attitude to go take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.
But I'd never say anything like that, even when someone tries to piss all over positive developments like this one.
I understand that just like Debbie Downer, some folks just can't help seeing the world through shit-colored glasses.

        •  Yeah OK, if you want to live in a fantasy (0+ / 0-)

          world, have at it.

OTOH, some like to look at the established track record of -  in this case - Mr. Obama.

Time (Harvard Law School Review) after time (US Senate run) after time (the 2008 presidential election) he has employed progressive rhetoric in election campaigns only to kowtow to the powers that be afterwards.

if you think that the fourth time around will be the charm - again good luck with that!!

          •  At this point, I'll just bid you good evening sir. (1+ / 0-)

            •  That's probably wise (0+ / 0-)

'cuz me and somebody who supports somebody who is for a massive expansion of fossil fuels, de facto legalization of torture, appointing a corporate/raider felon as car czar, doubling down on Bush's idiotic education policies, trampling on civil liberties and ramping up the surveillence state, etc etc are unlikely to ever come to much of an understanding . . .
